Biography

After teaching elementary school for many years, Judy Chapel left that field and plunged into a new career. She’s covered a lot of artistic ground, exploring watercolor, acrylics, pastels, collage and Chinese brush painting. She’s also studied with some of the best artists in these fields Pat Deadman, Skip Lawrence, Bob Burridge. “I loved to color, paint, and draw as a child. What I loved to do then has come back to fill my life with excitement and passion today.” This excitement and passion has caused Judy to win Best of Show in the San Luis Obispo Art Center’s  “Brushstrokes 2000” Show. She has been juried into three Central Coast Watercolor Society’s Aquarius Shows and is a now a Signature member.

Her work appears in several galleries and collections. Judy has had several one person shows in Santa Maria, California and dual shows at the Call Booth Gallery in Paso Robles, California and The Village Art Gallery in Arroyo Grande, California.

Judy has participated in the San Luis Obispo Arts Council Open Studio Tour for eight years.
